If we talk about the quality and power of sauna stoves, then the Cuirassier series is one of the most proven in this regard. In Russia, Greyvari stoves are developed and manufactured in Novosibirsk, at. And they are also called “cuirassiers”. For reference: a cuirassier is an armed warrior from past centuries. In Russia, Cuirassier stoves went on sale only in 2009 - but the reviews until that time were almost all positive. For example, those bath attendants who have already acquired such a stove often praise it for its significant savings in wood, while maintaining the heat at the proper level. A gallant cavalryman, reliability and protection - the Cuirassier stove is so named for a reason: after all, in terms of power, Cuirassier stoves are superior to most of their analogues from other manufacturers.
Cuirassier - basic line and structural features
The line of stoves for the Cuirassier bathhouse has a familiar design: an elongated rectangle with rounded corners. The heater is an open type and is located above the firebox. The model comes with an external combustion tunnel - for heating from a dressing room or washing room. A popular option, as it allows you to organize heating of two rooms at once. The furnace body is surrounded by a convector casing, which allows you to activate the movement of air along the hot walls, quickly heating the air in the steam room. The casing is painted with heat-resistant enamel on both sides, which certainly extends its service life.
The structure of the Cuirassier stove
Design Features
This model is positioned as a sauna stove with afterburning of flammable gases. Primary air enters through the ash pan, by pulling it out/retracting it is possible to regulate the intensity of combustion and the temperature in the steam room. To supply secondary air to the upper part of the furnace, there is a nozzle-screen on the rear wall that sets the direction of the air flow. As a result, the gases that rise up mix with air, flare up again, and their combustion is more complete. The same air flow protects the back wall of the firebox from overheating and burnout (which is a common occurrence in the afterburning zone).
Other design features:
- Smoke collector of nonlinear shape, increasing the residence time of flue gases in the furnace. As a result, they transfer most of the thermal energy to the walls, and they, in turn, transfer the stone laying and the air in the steam room.
- Beam-shaped grate. It represents separate elements that are not connected to each other. This solution makes it possible to more effectively “shatter” the ash into the ash pan, freeing up the passage for primary air. When burning, due to uneven heating of the beams, their shapes change - they bend in different directions. This movement causes the ash to fall down. Since ash does not accumulate on the grate, it is actively blown with air, cooling, which extends its service life.
Going through the main processes - In the area of the grate there are ash cushions - cavities that prevent overheating of the bottom of the furnace.
- For more efficient heating of the heater, an air flow is diverted into it, rising along the outer walls of the firebox. For this purpose, holes are made in the side walls of the container for stones.
- The bottom of the heater is inclined, which allows you to increase the volume of the stones, and also prevents the stones from being “flooded”.
- The chimney pipe is made of stainless steel 1.5 mm thick (diameter 115 mm).
- The walls of the firebox are made of 3 mm or 6 mm steel - depending on the model, the deflector and smoke collector are made of 6 mm steel.
There are also standard but convenient solutions: the ability to reverse the door (open to the right or left), a bent firebox with a minimum of seams, a cleaning hole for removing soot, height-adjustable legs that allow you to set the stove horizontally, regardless of whether the area is level or not.
The Cuirassier has one not-so-pleasant design feature - the smoke pipe outlet is shifted to the front wall. When installed, this means that the chimney will run close to the wall, which is not always convenient. If the wall is made of flammable materials, you will have to somehow protect it from overheating (make a protective screen).
Equipment, dimensions, technical characteristics
In the basic Cuirassier line there are two configurations - Standard and Intro, which differ in the type of fire door. The “standard” comes with a regular door - with or without glass, and the Intro - with panoramic heat-resistant glass (diagonal 40 cm for Cuirassier 10/15, for more powerful modifications Cuirassier 20/25 glass size diagonally 50 cm).
Appearance of the line of Cuirassier sauna stoves
Any model of the “Standard” type can be equipped with a built-in water tank or heat exchanger. You can also place a samovar-type tank on the chimney. Technical characteristics of stove models for baths and saunas Cuirassier are given in the table.

Reviews of Cuirassier stoves
Somehow people write sparingly. Basically, how much is exploited and that everything is “normal”.
I have 15 Cuirassier. For a year and a half I have been sailing on weekends - the flight is normal.
We will only install this one for ourselves. We have a good friend who is an avid steamer. He has already replaced two stoves. Now the third one is Cuirassier 20, it seems. Couldn't be happier.

We ordered this door for the hammam with delivery to Kazan. In our city, these doors are more expensive even taking into account delivery. The door arrived in a wooden box, without damage. I found instructions and accessories in the package. I installed the door myself, nothing complicated
A good inexpensive stone, the fraction and shape of these stones are different, but this is the most natural thing, it is easier to lay, since the stones cannot be laid tightly, it is necessary for air to circulate. On the mesh heater it looks beautiful like natural hot water
Thank you, we received the oven. As promised, I am writing a review, the stove has not yet been tested, we are assembling the chimney, I will write upon delivery. The stove was delivered to Surgut in 10 days and that included weekends. The stove came in a rigid package (box). Delivery to Surgut is free, I paid
We ordered a glass door for a bathhouse with delivery to Barnaul, I was very worried about how it would be delivered to us and in what condition. The door arrived in a hard package, a wooden box with soft padding, safe and sound))) thank you!
I had wooden doors in the bathhouse, but now they are glass, no steam escapes anywhere, glass doors hold steam even better than wood. If in the future I have a question about replacing doors, then my choice will only be glass.
Glass door in the bathhouse? I won’t put a pit like this in my bathhouse; there should be a wooden dam in the bathhouse so that the steam doesn’t escape.
I dreamed of having my own bathhouse in the countryside - it finally came true. I built it myself and thought for a long time, consulted, read articles and reviews on the topic of which stove for a bath is the best - brick or metal. Since progress has already come a long way, I decided to take the Greyvari stove to
Greetings. I would like to thank the Greyvari company for making reliable stoves that are no worse than imported ones! I have a heating stove-fireplace Sicily. This is definitely a wood-burning stove worthy of 5 stars and good reviews. Everything in it is thought out! Distributes heat throughout
the door is super, at first I was against the glass door in the bathhouse, I thought there was heat loss, it was fragile. I didn’t notice any heat loss, sometimes it fogs up due to humidity and that’s all, but I was convinced of the strength of this door when they installed the doors and started finishing, the builders laid the length

Unfortunately no. Only for stoves and boilers specially designed for it.
Can this gas burner be built into a sauna stove? I.E. In an ordinary heater, for example, a cuirassier?
Lyuba from Salekhard. Thank you, we received the stove, my husband installed it himself, we had to buy an additional chimney from us in Salekhard. Thank you for the free delivery, we couldn’t find such a stove here, but my husband had a requirement for a closed heater for the Russian
It’s a good stove, taking into account the discount and sales at the stove, I’m doubly happy. High-quality Finnish stove. I advise those who like to warm up in the sauna.
Really cast iron stove. This is a stove for centuries. Its weight corresponds to the quality, so take two or three people for loading and unloading.
We have a recreation center in the Arkhangelsk region, we purchased this stove for our sauna commission. The employees were trained, gained experience, and now we are happy that we don’t bother with firewood. The start of the sauna from the client’s call to working condition has been reduced and that’s it
Hello ! Is delivery of this stove to Krasnoyarsk free? And if you order a chimney with this stove, is the delivery of the chimney also free? Thank you.
I chose the Vesuvius Hurricane 22 Forging stove for my bathhouse, but I couldn’t find such a stove for sale in Omsk, other options didn’t suit me. either too expensive or without a closed heater. Thanks to the stove guys, everything was sent on time and it arrived in the tree
This is the thickness of the firebox, we were surprised. super. How does this stove work, can anyone please respond? like steam, like humidity, how much to heat and so as not to overheat.
A photo would be a photo of the fire of this firebox, or a video to see how the type of wood burns. So it’s not entirely informative how this fireplace insert will look.
Cuirassier Finka and Swede
These two lines of sauna stoves are heated from a steam room, therefore they do not have an external flow tunnel. These models have an interesting feature - enhanced ventilation. In Fink stoves, an ash box is used for ventilation; in Shvedka there is a special gate (damper). You've probably noticed that around the middle of the procedure in the steam room it often becomes not so much too hot, but simply impossible to breathe. This happens because there is not enough oxygen. Usually there is nothing you can do about it: if you open the window/door, the temperature will drop and you won’t be able to steam anymore. But in the Fink and Shvedka ovens of the GrayVary campaign it is possible to activate air movement.
Cuirassier Finka in standard modification
To do this, the damper is opened or the ash drawer is pulled out. Air begins to be actively sucked into the opened space. Since the hole is located at the bottom, the coldest air comes out, and also humid and with a minimum amount of oxygen. Once in the firebox, it instantly dries out, reacts with flammable gases and, in the end, flies out into the chimney. In place of the “escaped” air, fresh air enters through the cracks under the door or special ventilation holes. Since the atmosphere has already begun to move, it quickly mixes with the warmer one, without significantly lowering the temperature. After about two minutes, the damper must be closed - due to the additional air, combustion has intensified, the temperature in the firebox has increased, and in a matter of moments it will regain the lost few degrees. But there will be enough oxygen in the steam room.
Technical characteristics of the Cuirassier Shvedka and Finka stoves
If we talk about technical characteristics, the Finka line includes a model for small steam rooms from 6 to 10 cubic meters. It also has the smallest dimensions (see table).

Mesh stoves Cuirassier Corbis and Lithos
Mesh stoves are popular because of their appearance, as well as the softer atmosphere in the steam room. The large mass of stones extinguishes most of the hard thermal radiation, turning it into a more pleasant release of heat in the infrared range for our body. The price for this is a longer time required to heat the steam room, since convection is significantly weakened. However, stoves with mesh around the body are often purchased.
Wood-burning stoves for Cuirassier baths with a heater around the firebox (mesh stove)
GrejVari has two lines Corbis and Lithos. They differ only in the design of the mesh - in the Gobis modification it is welded from rods, in the Litos modification it is made of perforated stainless steel. The baskets around the body can accommodate from 120 kg to 200 kg of stones (depending on the modification), while the volume of the firebox remains significant. The technical data of both lines remains identical; they are presented in the table.
Technical characteristics of the Cuirassier Corbis and Lithos stoves
These ranges are equipped with an extended combustion tunnel for combustion from an adjacent room. There are also two options for doors - a regular format, blank made of metal, the same size with glass, and the Intra modification - a wide door (fireplace) with panoramic glass.

Rolling Stones by GrejVari
A peculiar symbiosis of mesh ovens and a classic convection oven is the Rolling Stones line. The entire back wall is occupied by the heater, and the other three are covered with a casing. This stove is heated from an adjacent room (it has an external firebox).
Appearance of the Rolling Stones ovens
The high temperatures that are achieved due to the afterburning of gases in the upper part of the combustion chamber actively warm up the stones. At the same time, thermal radiation is not so harsh, since most of the surface of the body is covered with stones.
This model does not have the ability to install a built-in water tank. You can install a heat exchanger connected to a remote tank. The advantage of this option is that the tank can be placed at a height and supply warm water, for example, to the shower. Tank volumes are 60 and 100 liters. Their capacity is quite enough to meet the warm water needs of 2-4 people.
Connection diagram for heat exchanger and remote tank
The only thing you need to remember is that before igniting the stove you need to fill the tank to at least a third of its volume. It is not advisable to regularly leave it empty during heating - it will burn out due to overheating. Even more tragic consequences will occur if you fill an already heated heat exchanger with cold water. It will simply burst. Therefore, if you forgot to fill the tank, and the stove is already hot, come up with another way to get hot water. Also, during winter use, after the bath it is necessary to drain the water completely so that frozen water does not burst the pipes. But all these are features of the operation of any heat exchanger, and not just the Cuirassier.

Installation recommendations
In this regard, everything is standard and there are no special requirements or recommendations. The stoves must be placed on a non-combustible base. The base can be laid out of brick, or made multi-layered - a sheet of steel is attached to a layer of mineral wool cardboard. Read about how to install a metal sauna stove here.
When installing fireboxes with removal, combustible walls must be protected with non-combustible materials. To do this, a portal is cut out in the wall, an air gap is left between the walls of the remote firebox and the wall, which is then filled with bricks or mineral wool (must withstand temperatures of 800°C and above).
Installation diagram of a metal stove for a Cuirassier bath
According to the manufacturer's recommendation, the height of the chimney from the exit point of the smoke pipe to its top is 5 m. It is recommended to use sandwich pipes with their insulation in the under-roof space. Please note that even sandwich pipes must be routed through the ceiling and roof in a special passage unit (read how to route a sauna stove pipe through the roof here).
